How to Optimize Your Website for Mobile Search

The amount of mobile devices being used to access the web is escalating day by day. Mobile devices have many specifics which make them different from PCs and if your site is not designed to be mobile friendly then your site is not mobile search ready. You have to adapt to their requirements if you don't want to miss mobile searchers.

Optimizing a site for mobile search entails a lot of work and if your site is not designed to be mobile-friendly, your efforts might be worthless. Here are some recommendations on how to make a site mobile-friendly and increase its possibility to rank better for mobile searches.

Multiple mobile stylesheets and resizing images are search-friendly steps that can help to present your site in a more user-friendly manner, thus making it easier for mobile users to find and use your site.

Mobile users search for shorter keyphrases, or even just for keywords. Most often, the search question is limited to only 2 or even 1 words. As a result, if you don't rank well for shorter keyphrases then you will be missing a lot of mobile traffic.

Optimize local search because mobile users search for local stuff.

It is much better to make your pages fast to load so cut animation and leave lean graphics only.

One of the most important things is to make sure that your website performs correctly in different mobile browsers. Your site should look the same on browsers being used on the iPhone, Blackberry, Droid, etc. Keep the site simple and make sure it stick on to all the details across the board.

Make sure that your best info is listed high up on the site because there are times that the person browsing your mobile site will never make it to the bottom so you have to give the user what they are looking for immediately before they glance off your page.
